What is Holistic Health and Well-Being?

Holistic Health and Well-Being Care is an approach to health and well-being that emphasizes the study of all aspects of a person's health, including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, economic, and cultural factors. It is a universalist approach to regular health and well-being care. It can be defined as viewing yourself from a whole perspective, rather than just compartmentalized parts that are unrelated to each other. That what effects one part of you, ultimately effects the 'whole' of you and all those with whom you have interaction with. It is a way of seeing your health care and well-being needs along the interconnectedness of the mind, body and spirit. It is a way of life that is, ultimately, a life long journey, though there are many stops along the way. It is about balance and helping to heal the whole person so that you may reach your highest and best.

It is recognized that ultimately it is the individual that is responsibile for their own health, for only when the individual takes personal responsibility for their health and well-being, can they begin to become whole and healthy as is their birthright. That beliefs, values and attitudes affect our health and these must also be addressed. That a practioner of holistic health and well-being care is a supportive member of a team that is there to help, guide and recommend in a caring and compassionate manner based upon their knowledge and experience. It is also recognized that it is an individuals choice to choose what they believe will work best for them. That no one treatment, medication or technique is going to work for us all nor work in the same way for each person and often, it is necessary to work with several modalities to attain and maintain optimum health and well-being, thus becoming an integrative approach to health and well-being.

The way to true health and well-being is multi-faceted and the Holistic mind set understands that each one of us is an utterly unique individual.
